The Creator - Military Exploration

Working at Wētā Workshop I had the opportunity to work on Gareth Edwards film The Creator. Under Costume Designer Jeremy Hanna, one of our biggest tasks was exploring the various military forces in the film.
Gareth wanted the soldiers to look unique and different. He was keen to push the silhouettes away from the obvious, and we played with ways to make them feel more strange and animalistic. Variety through modularity was also something we were playing with, as a way to differentiate the various factions while keeping a consistent design language, and keep physical costume numbers down for the on set crew.
