The Creator - Weapons

Working at Wētā Workshop I had the opportunity to work on Gareth Edwards film The Creator. Developing the weaponry for The Creator was a long but hugely enjoyable process. Gareth wanted to create unique and distinct looking weapons. He was interested in exploring unorthodox shapes and functions, Art Director Jeremy Hanna and I explored many strange ideas early on in the process. We explored curving bullets, rotating magazines, homing projectiles, Unconventional form factors and more.

The early rifle designs were modular in approach to help Gareth achieve the variety in silhouette he wanted. Various barrels, hoses, and panel attachments were able to transform the rifle base into a number of different variations.
This approach carried through to the final designs, which were a collaborative effort between myself and Jeremy Hanna.
