M3gan - Elsie

In 2020 I had the opportunity to design the robot Elsie for the movie M3gan. Working in collaboration with Director Gerard Johnstone, art director Jeremy Hanna, and the manufacturing team at Wētā Workshop.

Elsie is Gemma's virtual assistant, and we went through a number of sketches before landing on this cute mushroom shape. Elsie needed a design that fit in with the toy-like technology of the world, but could also pull off a more sinister look later in the film. This piece of art was done once Elsie's look was nearly locked in, to show her in context on the countertop.
